Hi All,

On my trip to Italy, one day my friend Kirby and I decided to visit two charming islands called Burano and Murano. And boy are we happy that we did! Murano island is known for it's long tradition of glass making. While there you can visit factories that will show how glass is made. Other option is to visit an actual museum of blown glass. You can even feel the island's specialty in glass just by strolling through the island and going into souvenir shops that have a variety of blown glass items from Christmas ornaments to big decorative statues. This is easily accessibly from Venice and make for a great day trip in addition to Burano.

Majority of the pictures above are of the colorful island of Burano. I absolutely loved this charming place! The island has so much character and when I say that every house is painted in a vibrant color I truly mean every house. It's not just a row of colorful houses ( even though I do adore Rainbow Row). I don't think I saw one plain building when we explored the island. It was especially beautiful as we got to catch the sunset there. These two islands are perfect for a day / half a day trip in combination and ideal if you are looking for an unscheduled, relaxing, day of just exploring the islands.
